What was actually said

“I have dozens of MP3s to combine into a 10+ hour file, ideally with per-file navigation. Tools I tried either introduce glitches at joins or lack chapter support.”

Background and pain

The pain

Merging audio looks trivial but involves mismatched sample rates, ID3 conflicts and chapter marks — generic editors all fail at batch long-form merges.

A buildable angle

The opening

A long-audio merger that normalizes formats and auto-generates chapters/bookmarks (m4b) from filenames, for podcast back-catalogs and DIY audiobooks.

How to validate it

  1. Read the whole thread and note the recurring scenarios — repetition is the density of the need.
  2. Search existing tools around "audio / merge" and check which single step they actually cover.
  3. Put up a one-line landing page, share it back to Stack Exchange, and see whether anyone asks about pricing.

I use the freeware Makeitone Mp3 Album Maker . Small, simple to use: you can add files and or folders, drag and drop, etc. Besides, it is reversible: you can undo the merging to get back the original files.

I have used a lot of online tools, and they worked nicely for me, so maybe simply try some more... If you want something on Windows, mp3DirectCut may be an option. You drag the files into the window and then save.
