What was actually said

“ERPNext is too heavy, Odoo customization is painful, raw Django/FastAPI means rebuilding approval flows and reports. I need an 'ERP middle layer' comparison.”

Background and pain

The pain

The mid-market of manufacturing digitalization is huge, yet selection info is all sales pitch.

A buildable angle

The opening

A horizontal comparison report (extensibility/approval engine/reporting/migration cost) plus starter templates, monetized via consulting and hosting.

How to validate it

  1. Read the whole thread and note the recurring scenarios — repetition is the density of the need.
  2. Search existing tools around "erp / framework" and check which single step they actually cover.
  3. Put up a one-line landing page, share it back to Stack Exchange, and see whether anyone asks about pricing.

Existing options

ERPNext/Odoo纯 Django

From the thread · top comments

I suggest looking at ERPNext It is opensource. It is based on Frappe framework, hence extensible. It is currently one of the popular opensource implementations.
